Extra Government Cash Incentives for Employers

  • £3,000 cash incentive for any employer who hires a new apprentice between 01 April 2021 and 30 September 2021
  • This is in addition to any £1,000 16 to 18 year old cash incentive
  • Making a total of up to £4,000 cash incentives available to employers for employing a new apprentice

Employers who take on apprentices as new employees before 31 March 2021 can receive: £2,000 for apprentices aged 16 to 24 or £1,500 for apprentices aged 25 and over. This is in addition to any 16-18 year old £1,000 incentive.

Apprenticeships are a very cost effective way to train, develop and recruit the people you need for your business because they qualify for government funding.

Businesses who do not reach the threshold for paying the Apprenticeship levy (annual payroll greater than £3 million) receive funding for 95% of the apprenticeship training and assessment cost
This funding is not affected by the age of the apprentice or if they are an existing employee
A cash incentive payment of £1,000 is also paid to employers who employ an apprentice aged 16-18 (or 19–24 care leaver).
Furthermore, if a business has fewer than 50 employees and employs an apprentice aged 16–18 (or 19–24 care leaver), they receive funding for 100% of the apprenticeship training cost plus the £1,000 cash incentive.
