Cash Incentives for Employers

Apprenticeships are a very cost effective way to train, develop and recruit the people you need for your business because they qualify for government funding.

Businesses who do not reach the threshold for paying the Apprenticeship levy (annual payroll greater than £3 million) receive funding for 95% of the apprenticeship training and assessment cost.

This funding is not affected by the age of the apprentice or if they are an existing employee.

A cash incentive payment of £1,000 is also paid to employers who employ an apprentice aged 16-18 (or 19–24 care leaver).

Furthermore, if a business has fewer than 50 employees and employs an apprentice aged 16–18 (or 19–24 care leaver), they receive funding for 100% of the apprenticeship training cost plus the £1,000 cash incentive.
