Job Description

This is an opportunity to join a growing and innovative digital training provider as a Senior IT Skills and Career Coach, where you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and developing outstanding learning and support that ensures our learners make the absolute best progress towards their learning goals and ambitions. Many of our learners are learning IT Support and Networking skills for the first time, so you will be genuinely excited about passing on your own knowledge and skills. You will be patient, understanding and enjoy helping people develop. You be able to empathise with learners and reassure those who may lack confidence as they learn. You will have solid IT knowledge and competency in terms of hardware, software installation, networking, cloud, and security. High levels of personal motivation and organisation are also vital to the role.

You will deliver both theoretical and practical based webinars. You will support your own allocated caseload of learners from start to completion of their learning, supporting them with any technical difficulties or aspects of the programme they are finding difficult. You will encourage and motivate learners with the career development aspects of the programme including; developing an effective CV, identifying suitable employment vacancies, and preparing them for interviews etc.

As the role is for a senior teaching post, you will be required to lead by example; you will be proactive when you see areas for development in terms of teaching resources, learner activities and content. You may be asked to lead development of new courses and/or topics as well as managing and being responsible for a small team of skills coaches and support technicians.

The role is remote, home-based so you must have a quiet, professional work area where you can work without being disturbed and be visible on camera. You must also have a reliable internet connection. From time to time you may be asked to attend our Coventry offices or other premises. All other equipment required by the role will be provided.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to demonstrate their suitability for work in an education setting and accordingly an appropriate knowledge of safeguarding processes and procedures. As part of the wider duties of the role, the successful applicant will be expected to spot and respond to indicators and disclosures of a safeguarding nature.

This role is subject to satisfactory Enhanced DBS + Barred Lists and reference checks.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • A level 4 or above qualification in a relevant technical IT area (E.g., Network Engineering, Cloud Engineering) Vendor qualifications from Microsoft, Cisco, COMPTIA will be considered.
  • Previous experience of delivering vocational IT support in an educational setting as well as internal quality assurance, or extensive IT industry experience with a desire to apply your experience in a teaching environment.
  • Qualified to at least level 3 in teaching & assessment or prepared to achieve a teaching qualification if moving across from industry.
  • As a member of our front-line delivery team, you will be involved in training learners. You will need to have a calm, supportive and nurturing personality and enjoy sharing your knowledge and skills with others.

  • You will have a good standard (minimum of Level 2) of verbal and written English, and maths.
  • Ideally, you will have experience of working in a technical IT role, utilising, and supporting solutions such as Microsoft Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Azure, Intune, DNS (Domain Name System), WLAN, Windows 10/11, ChromeOS, Apple, Windows Server, and end-user connectivity issues (Browser-based)
