As a Learner Recruitment Officer, you will be part of a dedicated, friendly team that engages, advises and selects adult learners for JBC’s funded IT training courses. Each year JBC provides hundreds of individuals with fully funded IT training courses. We train learners who are unemployed or looking to progress in employment by training in IT support.

You will be promoting JBC’s IT courses via our partners at Jobcentres and careers fairs. You would respond to applications and enquiries from people who are interested in a place on our course, and you would interview and assess their suitability for a place.

The job is hybrid requiring a minimum of one day a week to be worked from our offices in Coventry, the remaining days can be worked remotely. Some travel is required to visit Jobcentre partners across the regions, this is typically a few days a month, so you need to drive.

The role is full-time, but part-time of a minimum of 22.5 hours a week will be considered.

This role will suit you if you are a “people person” who enjoys meeting, advising and guiding people.


  • Maintaining contact and relationships with staff within Jobcentres, promoting awareness and availability of JBC’s training courses.
  • Responding to enquiries by telephone and email providing information to prospective learners.
  • Reviewing applications, interview and assess prospective learners and determine if they are suitable against the course eligibility criteria.
  • Checking and collecting eligibility information to enable learner enrolment.
  • Keeping in contact with recruited learners whilst on the course and afterwards.
  • Any other duties as may be required.


  • Good interpersonal skills, confident talking to people in-person, via telephone or video call.
  • Excellent time keeping, time management and organisational skills to ensure you organise your work diary efficiently.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and email tools.
  • Able to grasp the purpose of our IT courses and provide people with relevant information, advice and guidance (IAG).
  • Ideally you will hold an IAG qualification or similar or be willing to gain such a qualification when in post.
  • Some experience in a customer facing role dealing with members of the public, and ideally of interviewing / assessing people.
  • A full driving license.

To work remotely from your home you must have a quiet professional work area where you can work without being disturbed and be visible on camera. You need a reliable internet connection capable of handling high quality video calls.
