SME Funding Boost
From 1 April 2024, eligible small businesses in England can benefit from enhanced government funding for apprenticeship training.
For apprentices aged up to 21, the government can cover up to 100% of the agreed training cost (within the funding band), meaning many SMEs will pay no training contribution.
Employers will still be responsible for the apprentice’s wages and any other employment‑related costs. Funding is subject to eligibility criteria and current Department for Education rules, which may change.
